Isaiah 56

Salvation for the Gentiles

1 Thus says theLord:

“Keep justice, and do righteousness,

# For My salvationisabout to come,

And My righteousness to be revealed.

2 Blessedisthe manwhodoes this,

And the son of manwholays hold on it;

# Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,

And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

3 Do not letthe son of the foreigner

Who has joined himself to theLord

Speak, saying,

“TheLordhas utterly separated me from His people”;

# Nor let theeunuch say,

“Here I am, a dry tree.”

4 For thus says theLord:

“To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths,

And choose what pleases Me,

And hold fast My covenant,

5 Even to them I will give inMy house

# And within My walls a placeand a name

Better than that of sons and daughters;

I will give them an everlasting name

That shall not be cut off.

6 “Also the sons of the foreigner

Who join themselves to theLord, to serve Him,

And to love the name of theLord, to be His servants—

Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,

And holds fast My covenant—

7 Even them I willbring to My holy mountain,

# And make them joyful in Myhouse of prayer.

# Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices

# Willbeaccepted on My altar;

# ForMy house shall be called a house of prayerfor all nations.”

8 The LordGod,who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says,

# “Yet I will gather to him

Othersbesides those who are gathered to him.”

Israel’s Irresponsible Leaders

9 All you beasts of the field, come to devour,

All you beasts in the forest.

10 His watchmenareblind,

They are all ignorant;

# Theyareall dumb dogs,

They cannot bark;

Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

11 Yes,theyaregreedy dogs

# Whichnever have enough.

And theyareshepherds

Who cannot understand;

They all look to their own way,

Every one for his own gain,

From hisownterritory.

12 “Come,”onesays,“I will bring wine,

# And we will fill ourselves with intoxicatingdrink;

# Tomorrow will beas today,

Andmuch more abundant.”

Isaiah 57

Israel’s Futile Idolatry

1 The righteous perishes,

And no man takesitto heart;

# Merciful menaretaken away,

# While no one considers

That the righteous is taken away from evil.

2 He shall enter into peace;

# They shall rest intheir beds,

Eachonewalkinginhis uprightness.

3 “But come here,

# You sons of the sorceress,

You offspring of the adulterer and the harlot!

4 Whom do you ridicule?

Against whom do you make a wide mouth

Andstick out the tongue?

Areyou not children of transgression,

Offspring of falsehood,

5 Inflaming yourselves with godsunder every green tree,

# Slaying the children in the valleys,

Under the clefts of the rocks?

6 Among the smoothstonesof the stream

Isyour portion;

They, they,areyour lot!

Even to them you have poured a drink offering,

You have offered a grain offering.

# Should I receive comfort inthese?

7 “Ona lofty and high mountain

# You have setyour bed;

Even there you went up

To offer sacrifice.

8 Also behind the doors and their posts

You have set up your remembrance;

For you have uncovered yourselftothoseotherthan Me,

And have gone up to them;

You have enlarged your bed

And madeacovenantwith them;

# You have loved their bed,

Where you sawtheirnudity.

9 You went to the king with ointment,

And increased your perfumes;

# You sent yourmessengers far off,

Andevendescended to Sheol.

10 You are wearied in the length of your way;

# Yetyou did not say, ‘There is no hope.’

You have found the life of your hand;

Therefore you were not grieved.

11 “Andof whom have you been afraid, or feared,

That you have lied

And not remembered Me,

Nor takenitto your heart?

# Is it not becauseI have held My peace from of old

That you do not fear Me?

12 I will declare your righteousness

And your works,

For they will not profit you.

13 When you cry out,

Let your collectionofidolsdeliver you.

But the wind will carry them all away,

A breath will takethem.

But he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land,

And shall inherit My holy mountain.”

Healing for the Backslider

14 And one shall say,

# “Heap it up! Heap it up!

Prepare the way,

Take the stumbling block out of the way of My people.”

15 For thus says the High and Lofty One

# Who inhabits eternity,whose nameisHoly:

# “I dwell in the high and holyplace,

# With himwhohas a contrite and humble spirit,

# To revive the spirit of the humble,

And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

16 For I will not contend forever,

Nor will I always be angry;

For the spirit would fail before Me,

# And the soulswhichI have made.

17 For the iniquity ofhis covetousness

I was angry and struck him;

# I hid and was angry,

# And he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

18 I have seen his ways, andwill heal him;

I will also lead him,

And restore comforts to him

# And tohis mourners.

19 “I createthe fruit of the lips:

# Peace, peacetohimwhoisfar off and tohimwhoisnear,”

Says theLord,

“And I will heal him.”

20 But the wickedarelike the troubled sea,

When it cannot rest,

Whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

21 “Thereis no peace,”

Says my God, “for the wicked.”

Isaiah 58

Fasting that Pleases God

1 “Cry aloud, spare not;

Lift up your voice like a trumpet;

# Tell My people their transgression,

And the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Yet they seek Me daily,

And delight to know My ways,

As a nation that did righteousness,

And did not forsake the ordinance of their God.

They ask of Me the ordinances of justice;

They take delight in approaching God.

3 ‘Whyhave we fasted,’theysay,‘and You have not seen?

# Whyhave weafflicted our souls, and You take no notice?’

“In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure,

And exploit all your laborers.

4 Indeed you fast for strife and debate,

And to strike with the fist of wickedness.

You will not fast asyoudothis day,

To make your voice heard on high.

5 Isit a fast that I have chosen,

# A day for a man to afflict his soul?

Isitto bow down his head like a bulrush,

# Andto spread out sackcloth and ashes?

Would you call this a fast,

And an acceptable day to theLord?

6 “Isthis not the fast that I have chosen:

# Toloose the bonds of wickedness,

# To undo the heavy burdens,

# To let the oppressed go free,

And that you break every yoke?

7 Isitnotto share your bread with the hungry,

And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;

# When you see the naked, that you cover him,

# And not hide yourself fromyour own flesh?

8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,

Your healing shall spring forth speedily,

And your righteousness shall go before you;

# The glory of theLordshall be your rear guard.

9 Then you shall call, and theLordwill answer;

You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here Iam.’

“If you take away the yoke from your midst,

# The pointing of the finger, andspeaking wickedness,

10 Ifyou extend your soul to the hungry

And satisfy the afflicted soul,

Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,

And your darkness shallbeas the noonday.

11 TheLordwill guide you continually,

And satisfy your soul in drought,

And strengthen your bones;

You shall be like a watered garden,

And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

12 Those from among you

# Shall build the old waste places;

You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;

And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,

The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

13 “Ifyou turn away your foot from the Sabbath,

Fromdoing your pleasure on My holy day,

And call the Sabbath a delight,

The holydayof theLordhonorable,

And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,

Nor finding your own pleasure,

Nor speakingyourownwords,

14 Then you shall delight yourself in theLord;

# And I will cause you toride on the high hills of the earth,

And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.

# The mouth of theLordhas spoken.”

Isaiah 59

Separated from God

1 Behold, theLord’s hand is notshortened,

That it cannot save;

Nor His ear heavy,

That it cannot hear.

2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;

And your sins have hiddenHisface from you,

# So that He willnot hear.

3 Foryour hands are defiled with blood,

And your fingers with iniquity;

Your lips have spoken lies,

Your tongue has muttered perversity.

4 No one calls for justice,

Nor doesanyplead for truth.

# They trust inempty words and speak lies;

# They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity.

5 They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web;

He who eats of their eggs dies,

Andfromthat which is crushed a viper breaks out.

6 Their webs will not become garments,

Nor will they cover themselves with their works;

Their worksareworks of iniquity,

And the act of violenceisin their hands.

7 Their feet run to evil,

# And they make haste to shedinnocent blood;

# Their thoughtsarethoughts of iniquity;

# Wasting anddestructionarein their paths.

8 The way ofpeace they have not known,

Andthereisno justice in their ways;

# They have made themselves crooked paths;

Whoever takes that way shall not know peace.

Sin Confessed

9 Therefore justice is far from us,

Nor does righteousness overtake us;

# We look for light, but there is darkness!

For brightness,butwe walk in blackness!

10 We grope for the wall like the blind,

And we grope as ifwehadno eyes;

We stumble at noonday as at twilight;

Weareas deadmenin desolate places.

11 We all growl like bears,

# Andmoan sadly like doves;

We look for justice, butthereisnone;

For salvation,butit is far from us.

12 For ourtransgressions are multiplied before You,

And our sins testify against us;

For our transgressionsarewith us,

Andasforour iniquities, we know them:

13 In transgressing and lying against theLord,

And departing from our God,

Speaking oppression and revolt,

# Conceiving and utteringfrom the heart words of falsehood.

14 Justice is turned back,

And righteousness stands afar off;

For truth is fallen in the street,

And equity cannot enter.

15 So truth fails,

# And hewhodeparts from evil makes himself aprey.

The Redeemer of Zion

Then theLordsawit,and it displeased Him

Thattherewasno justice.

16 He saw thattherewasno man,

# Andwondered thattherewasno intercessor;

# Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him;

And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.

17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate,

And a helmet of salvation on His head;

He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing,

And was clad with zeal as a cloak.

18 According totheirdeeds, accordingly He will repay,

Fury to His adversaries,

Recompense to His enemies;

The coastlands He will fully repay.

19 So shall they fear

The name of theLordfrom the west,

And His glory from the rising of the sun;

# When the enemy comes inlike a flood,

The Spirit of theLordwill lift up a standard against him.

20 “TheRedeemer will come to Zion,

And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,”

Says theLord.

21 “Asfor Me,” says theLord, “thisisMy covenant with them: My Spirit whoisupon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says theLord, “from this time and forevermore.”

Isaiah 60

The Gentiles Bless Zion

1 Arise,shine;

For your light has come!

# Andthe glory of theLordis risen upon you.

2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,

And deep darkness the people;

But theLordwill arise over you,

And His glory will be seen upon you.

3 TheGentiles shall come to your light,

And kings to the brightness of your rising.

4 “Liftup your eyes all around, and see:

# They all gather together,they come to you;

Your sons shall come from afar,

And your daughters shall be nursed atyourside.

5 Then you shall see and become radiant,

And your heart shall swell with joy;

# Becausethe abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,

The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.

6 The multitude of camels shall cover yourland,

# The dromedaries of Midian andEphah;

# All those fromSheba shall come;

# They shall bringgold and incense,

And they shall proclaim the praises of theLord.

7 All the flocks ofKedar shall be gathered together to you,

The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you;

# They shall ascend withacceptance on My altar,

# AndI will glorify the house of My glory.

8 “Whoarethesewhofly like a cloud,

And like doves to their roosts?

9 Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me;

And the ships of Tarshishwillcomefirst,

# To bring your sons from afar,

# Their silver and their gold with them,

To the name of theLordyour God,

And to the Holy One of Israel,

# Because He has glorified you.

10 “Thesons of foreigners shall build up your walls,

# And their kings shall minister to you;

# Forin My wrath I struck you,

# But in My favor I have had mercy on you.

11 Therefore your gatesshall be open continually;

They shall not be shut day or night,

Thatmenmay bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles,

And their kings in procession.

12 For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish,

Andthosenations shall be utterly ruined.

13 “Theglory of Lebanon shall come to you,

The cypress, the pine, and the box tree together,

To beautify the place of My sanctuary;

# And I will makethe place of My feet glorious.

14 Also the sons of those who afflicted you

# Shall comebowing to you,

# And all those who despised you shallfall prostrate at the soles of your feet;

And they shall call you The City of theLord,

# Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

15 “Whereas you have been forsaken and hated,

So that no one went throughyou,

I will make you an eternal excellence,

A joy of many generations.

16 You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles,

# And milk the breast of kings;

# You shall know thatI, theLord,amyour Savior

And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

17 “Instead of bronze I will bring gold,

Instead of iron I will bring silver,

Instead of wood, bronze,

And instead of stones, iron.

I will also make your officers peace,

And your magistrates righteousness.

18 Violence shall no longer be heard in your land,

Neither wasting nor destruction within your borders;

# But you shall callyour walls Salvation,

And your gates Praise.

God the Glory of His People

19 “Thesun shall no longer be your light by day,

Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;

But theLordwill be to you an everlasting light,

# Andyour God your glory.

20 Your sun shall no longer go down,

Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;

For theLordwill be your everlasting light,

And the days of your mourning shall be ended.

21 Also your peopleshallallberighteous;

# They shall inherit the land forever,

# The branch of My planting,

# The work of My hands,

That I may be glorified.

22 A little one shall become a thousand,

And a small one a strong nation.

I, theLord, will hasten it in its time.”

Isaiah 61

The Good News of Salvation

1 “TheSpirit of the LordGodisupon Me,

# Because theLordhas anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

# He has sent Meto heal the brokenhearted,

# To proclaimliberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison tothosewhoarebound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of theLord,

# Andthe day of vengeance of our God;

# To comfort all who mourn,

3 To console those who mourn in Zion,

# To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

# The planting of theLord,that He may be glorified.”

4 And they shallrebuild the old ruins,

They shall raise up the former desolations,

And they shall repair the ruined cities,

The desolations of many generations.

5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,

And the sons of the foreigner

Shallbeyour plowmen and your vinedressers.

6 But you shall be named the priests of theLord,

They shall call you the servants of our God.

# You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,

And in their glory you shall boast.

7 Instead of your shameyoushallhavedoublehonor,

Andinsteadofconfusion they shall rejoice in their portion.

Therefore in their land they shall possess double;

Everlasting joy shall be theirs.

8 “ForI, theLord, love justice;

# I hate robbery for burnt offering;

I will direct their work in truth,

# And will make with them an everlasting covenant.

9 Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,

And their offspring among the people.

All who see them shall acknowledge them,

# That theyarethe posteritywhomtheLordhas blessed.”

10 I will greatly rejoice in theLord,

My soul shall be joyful in my God;

# ForHe has clothed me with the garments of salvation,

He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,

# As a bridegroom deckshimselfwith ornaments,

And as a bride adornsherselfwith her jewels.

11 For as the earth brings forth its bud,

As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,

# So the LordGodwill causerighteousness andpraise to spring forth before all the nations.

Isaiah 62

Assurance of Zion’s Salvation

1 For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace,

And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,

Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,

And her salvation as a lampthatburns.

2 The Gentiles shall see your righteousness,

# And allkings your glory.

# You shall be called by a new name,

Which the mouth of theLordwill name.

3 You shall also bea crown of glory

In the hand of theLord,

And a royal diadem

In the hand of your God.

4 You shall no longer be termedForsaken,

# Nor shall your land any more be termedDesolate;

But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah;

For theLorddelights in you,

And your land shall be married.

5 Forasa young man marries a virgin,

Soshall your sons marry you;

Andasthe bridegroom rejoices over the bride,

# Soshall your God rejoice over you.

6 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;

They shall never hold their peace day or night.

You who make mention of theLord, do not keep silent,

7 And give Him no rest till He establishes

# And till He makes Jerusalema praise in the earth.

8 TheLordhas sworn by His right hand

And by the arm of His strength:

# “Surely I will no longergive your grain

Asfood for your enemies;

And the sons of the foreigner shall not drink your new wine,

For which you have labored.

9 But those who have gathered it shall eat it,

And praise theLord;

# Those who have brought it together shall drink itin My holy courts.”

10 Go through,

Go through the gates!

# Prepare the way for the people;

Build up,

Build up the highway!

Take out the stones,

# Lift up a banner for the peoples!

11 Indeed theLordhas proclaimed

To the end of the world:

# “Say to the daughter of Zion,

‘Surely your salvation is coming;

# Behold, Hisrewardiswith Him,

And His work before Him.’ ”

12 And they shall call them The Holy People,

The Redeemed of theLord;

And you shall be called Sought Out,

A City Not Forsaken.

Isaiah 63

The Lord in Judgment and Salvation

1 Whoisthis who comes from Edom,

With dyed garments from Bozrah,

ThisOnewhoisglorious in His apparel,

Traveling in the greatness of His strength?—

“I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

2 WhyisYour apparel red,

And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?

3 “I havetrodden the winepress alone,

And from the peoples no onewaswith Me.

For I have trodden them in My anger,

And trampled them in My fury;

Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments,

And I have stained all My robes.

4 For theday of vengeanceisin My heart,

And the year of My redeemed has come.

5 I looked, buttherewasno one to help,

And I wondered

Thattherewasno one to uphold;

# Therefore My ownarm brought salvation for Me;

And My own fury, it sustained Me.

6 I have trodden down the peoples in My anger,

Made them drunk in My fury,

And brought down their strength to the earth.”

God’s Mercy Remembered

7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of theLord

Andthe praises of theLord,

According to all that theLordhas bestowed on us,

And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,

Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies,

According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.

8 For He said, “Surely theyareMy people,

Childrenwhowill not lie.”

So He became their Savior.

9 In all their affliction He was afflicted,

# And the Angel of His Presence saved them;

# In His love and in His pity He redeemed them;

# AndHe bore them and carried them

All the days of old.

10 But theyrebelled andgrieved His Holy Spirit;

# So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,

AndHe fought against them.

11 Then heremembered the days of old,

Mosesandhis people,saying:

# “WhereisHe whobrought them up out of the sea

With the shepherd of His flock?

# WhereisHe who put His Holy Spirit within them,

12 Who ledthemby the right hand of Moses,

# With His glorious arm,

# Dividing the water before them

To make for Himself an everlasting name,

13 Who led them through the deep,

As a horse in the wilderness,

Thatthey might not stumble?”

14 As a beast goes down into the valley,

Andthe Spirit of theLordcauses him to rest,

So You lead Your people,

# To make Yourself a glorious name.

A Prayer of Penitence

15 Look down from heaven,

# And seefrom Your habitation, holy and glorious.

WhereareYour zeal and Your strength,

# The yearningof Your heart and Your mercies toward me?

Are they restrained?

16 Doubtless Youareour Father,

# Though Abrahamwas ignorant of us,

And Israel does not acknowledge us.

You, OLord,areour Father;

Our Redeemer from EverlastingisYour name.

17 OLord, why have Youmade us stray from Your ways,

Andhardened our heart from Your fear?

Return for Your servants’ sake,

The tribes of Your inheritance.

18 Your holy people have possesseditbut a little while;

# Our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary.

19 We have becomelikethose of old, over whom You never ruled,

Those who were never called by Your name.

Isaiah 64

1 Oh, that You would rend the heavens!

That You would come down!

# That the mountains might shake at Yourpresence—

2 As fire burns brushwood,

As fire causes water to boil—

To make Your name known to Your adversaries,

Thatthe nations may tremble at Your presence!

3 WhenYou did awesome thingsforwhichwe did not look,

You came down,

The mountains shook at Your presence.

4 For since the beginning of the world

# Menhave not heard nor perceived by the ear,

Nor has the eye seen any God besides You,

Who acts for the one who waits for Him.

5 You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness,

Whoremembers You in Your ways.

You are indeed angry, for we have sinned—

# In these ways we continue;

And we need to be saved.

6 But we are all like an uncleanthing,

# And allour righteousnessesarelike filthy rags;

# We allfade as a leaf,

And our iniquities, like the wind,

Have taken us away.

7 Andthereisno one who calls on Your name,

Who stirs himself up to take hold of You;

For You have hidden Your face from us,

And have consumed us because of our iniquities.

8 But now, OLord,

Youareour Father;

# Wearethe clay, and You ourpotter;

And all wearethe work of Your hand.

9 Do not be furious, OLord,

Nor remember iniquity forever;

Indeed, please look—we allareYour people!

10 Your holy cities are a wilderness,

Zion is a wilderness,

Jerusalem a desolation.

11 Our holy and beautiful temple,

Where our fathers praised You,

Is burned up with fire;

# And allour pleasant things are laid waste.

12 Will You restrain Yourself because of thesethings,OLord?

# Will You hold Your peace, and afflict us very severely?

Isaiah 65

The Righteousness of God’s Judgment

1 “I wassought bythosewhodid not askforMe;

I was found bythosewhodid not seek Me.

I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’

# To a nationthatwas not called by My name.

2 I have stretched out My hands all day long to arebellious people,

# Whowalk in a waythatisnot good,

According to their own thoughts;

3 A peoplewho provoke Me to anger continually to My face;

# Who sacrifice in gardens,

And burn incense on altars of brick;

4 Who sit among the graves,

And spend the night in the tombs;

# Who eat swine’s flesh,

And the broth of abominable things isintheir vessels;

5 Who say, ‘Keep to yourself,

Do not come near me,

For I am holier than you!’

Thesearesmoke in My nostrils,

A fire that burns all the day.

6 “Behold,itiswritten before Me:

# I will not keep silence,but will repay—

Even repay into their bosom—

7 Your iniquities andthe iniquities of your fathers together,”

Says theLord,

# “Who have burned incense on the mountains

# And blasphemed Me on the hills;

Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom.”

8 Thus says theLord:

“As the new wine is found in the cluster,

Andonesays, ‘Do not destroy it,

# Fora blessingisin it,’

So will I do for My servants’ sake,

# That I may not destroy themall.

9 I will bring forth descendants from Jacob,

And from Judah an heir of My mountains;

# Myelect shall inherit it,

And My servants shall dwell there.

10 Sharon shall be a fold of flocks,

# Andthe Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down,

# For My people who havesought Me.

11 “But youarethose who forsake theLord,

# Who forgetMy holy mountain,

# Who preparea table for Gad,

And who furnish a drink offering for Meni.

12 Therefore I will number you for the sword,

And you shall all bow down to the slaughter;

# Because, when I called, you did not answer;

When I spoke, you did not hear,

But did evil before My eyes,

And chosethatin which I do not delight.”

13 Therefore thus says the LordGod:

“Behold, My servants shall eat,

But you shall be hungry;

Behold, My servants shall drink,

But you shall be thirsty;

Behold, My servants shall rejoice,

But you shall be ashamed;

14 Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart,

But you shall cry for sorrow of heart,

# Andwail for grief of spirit.

15 You shall leave your nameas a curse toMy chosen;

For the LordGodwill slay you,

# Andcall His servants by another name;

16 So that he who blesses himself in the earth

Shall bless himself in the God of truth;

# Andhe who swears in the earth

Shall swear by the God of truth;

Because the former troubles are forgotten,

And because they are hidden from My eyes.

The Glorious New Creation

17 “For behold, I createnew heavens and a new earth;

And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;

For behold, I create Jerusalemasa rejoicing,

And her people a joy.

19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem,

And joy in My people;

# Thevoice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her,

Nor the voice of crying.

20 “No more shall an infant from therelivebutafewdays,

Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days;

For the child shall die one hundred years old,

# But the sinnerbeingone hundred years old shall be accursed.

21 They shall build houses and inhabitthem;

They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

22 They shall not build and another inhabit;

# They shall not plant andanother eat;

# Foras the days of a tree,soshallbethe days of My people,

# AndMy elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

23 They shall not labor in vain,

# Nor bring forth children for trouble;

# Fortheyshallbethe descendants of the blessed of theLord,

And their offspring with them.

24 “It shall come to pass

# Thatbefore they call, I will answer;

# And while they are still speaking, I willhear.

25 Thewolf and the lamb shall feed together,

The lion shall eat straw like the ox,

# And dustshallbethe serpent’s food.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,”

Says theLord.
